21-Jun-2004

It was 21st Jun 2004. I was 23 years old. I joined Oracle one year back and life was just awesome , I think.

on this day, around evening 7.00 PM, I got a call from Prabodha* while I was in rest room. Till date, I wish I shouldn't have receive that call.

I quickly got out of rest room and took the call.  He told me that chinnakka ,bava and Manju were infected with H.I.V. and doctor just confirmed the news. I called home immediately and everyone was crying....

I told them not to cry and I asked them to bring to Hyderabad for more test and I took appointment with Dr. Indira at Apolo hosp for 27 Jun. Babu, amma, akka, bava, manju, chitti and few others came to hospital in a sumo.

Doctor saw them and suggested for more tests. We went to Panjagutta for giving the blood tests. Results came in the evening and confirmed that indeed three of them got HIV, except chitti.

THAT DAY WAS CHITTI'S BIRTHDAY.  It was her third birth day. That was worst thing to happen on any day, let alone on birth day and  that too on third.

I asked doctor about options, she asked to do more tests to get CD/4 counts and accordingly we can start the treatment.  We gave blood work and they left home. (There was no infection control department at Apollo back then, they have two good doctors now).

After one week, results came. I was in a   huge dilemma on how to handle the issue. The news spread in the village and everyone is thinking they don't live for long time.. At home, they put separate plates for  akka.

After the reports, doctor said, they need to start on anti retroviral, especially for akks and Manju. Bava's CD/4 counts are not bad and he can wait for some time.

After lot of thought, I decided to tell everyone that they don't have HIV. To make everyone believe, I decided to  modify the reports and show them back to doctor in KMR who confirmed that they have HIV. And also, I want it to kept it secret, so I didn't discuss with anyone. It was my decision.

Next week, I went home and went to the doctor and told her what doctors in Hyd told ,that they don't have any HIV. I showed the reports. she didn't seem to be convinced but finally I was able to get to the point where she confessed that they don't have any HIV, in front of 10 other village people. Task accomplished!!!

So, I started anti retro viral to akka and Manju. I told everyone that these are energy medicine and needs to be take for some time.  I tear off the labels on the bottles ,so that no one knows about this. These medicines were costing around Rs.3,000 per month. It was significant amount back then.

MY ONLY INTENTION WAS TO GIVE MOTHER,FATHER AND BROTHER TILL SHE GROWN UP. AFTER 10 YEARS, I HAVE SUCCEEDED PARTIALLY

CEO and Social network

I happened to meet our CEO when he came to visit CEO of our client where we are selling multi million dollar  project. As part of brand building discussion, I told him that many of our partners are not on Twitter and it would be great idea to be on Twitter, to which he agreed and he promised that he will be on Twitter some time soon.

While browsing through Google, I came across Coupa, where I was impressed with the tag line "why should we buy differently at work, than at home?" and I appreciated CEO through LinkedIn and he responded in 2 mins.

********************************************************************************

I was doing some research on future of ERP and found out that cloud ERP is the future. Upon further research, found that  many companies are building ERP solutions on salesforce1 platform.  I tweeted about the trend and  Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff re-tweed about it.

I was part of SWAT team, analyzing customer issues for one of the client and I represented IT in the team and we prepared recommendations/projects to fix the root cause of the issue and also help them in longer time.

Client CIO told me that CEO appreciated my efforts.

Other client CIO told me that about the conversation about their CEO and Mark Hurd, Oracle President.
