After The Exhaustive Tour Of Vizag, We Reached Hyderabad on 4th april 2002. In the evening , we came to know that CMC is coming to our campus for recruitment.No Excitement this time As Nobody was recruited in the previous two companies(GE,HCL). I knew very little about CMC before.In My hostel, ravikanth told me that "CMC is a very good company and It is famous for Embedded System". These words made me to goto Net and searching for Its Placement paper. We found some questions but unfortunately We hadn't prepared.
Next Day when I woke up, I found no Washed Clothes to wear for interview (for GE interview, I started Searching for the good dress in the reddy hostel two days before).on continuous searching, I found one trouser which I stopped wearing because its not fitting to my personality and one shirt ,which vijendar was wearing for the last four years. I decided to go with that only.
Actually The preplacement talk is scheduled to be at 10:00 am but it was 10:30 by the time I was in CBIT( for GE i was half an hour before schedule). Soon After They Conducted Written test. It was very lengthy
test and I felt I should have done it better if I had some more time. After half an hour they started announcing the candidates shortlisted for the next round.They were reading out the names . I was eagerly looking at them only. They started reading Name1,Name2 ......., Name9 .My name was not there.Then they read "sudhakar reddy " then a sigh of relief. And they stopped reading with that name only. I dont know on which criteria they started reading the names but I felt lucky for qualifying next round.
From Our class out of the 16 members ,10 members were shortlisted for next round.Unfortunately Kundan singh was not among the ten. I thought Now Its time for Changing clothes. I and kundan replaced our shirts. With this process I was 5 minutes late for the next round exam.
It was Techinical exam. They asked some questions releated to Operating systems, software engg. DBMS ,CO etc. after that They conducted one small test on C. I felt I did well in that exam. Soon They announced results. All of the 10 were shortlisted for next round. But this time my name is in the middle. Around 20 members from our college shortlisted for interview.
We got some break before the interviews started. Now I felt its time for insetting. It was 6.00 pm in the evening by the time they started interviews. I didn't remeber who exactly the first candidate to attend the
interview, but me, Yk, Hari and Mahesh were waited for a long time expecting our turn. appearing for this". I heard somewhere that In Interviews We should Answer frankly. I decided to be very frank.
After two hours of waiting , It was my turn to be in the hot seat. The first question I faced, "Tell me about yourself". I emaphasized more on my agricultural background , I felt that I convinced him. Then He asked what are your favourate subjects, I replied O.S and D.S. then He asked "Design a BCD counter " , I wondered whether we studied counters in O.S. or D.E. Any how I did it correctly.
Then Some Questions on D.S. I answered them correctly. Mean while H.R. person started asking "Have you written G.R.E. or GATE ?" I replied only GATE. He asked me how much percantile I got and I replied.
He asked me again "would you like to continue your studies or do u take up job". I replied I will study only if I get into IITs but the chances are very less. Any how with some cinema stories I convinced him that I will be in CMC atleast for Three years.
Now The Technical person asked Give me the practical example of deadlock. I thought my self they were expecting some railway example (which We study in the book) but It would be nice If I give some other example "The Situation in the family Where The Husband and wife involved in some fight but neither of them were willing to start discussing about problem". They didn't understand initially , I explained them cleary by telling one practical example in my village". I found the satisfaction on their (committee members) faces. I feel that This was the answer that secured me the job. They asked me many questions about my personal life. I answered them frankly. Final question :Given a number, how do you get it multiplied by 16 without using mulitplication and addition symbols
I started thinking about that. I asked one of them Is It possible? He looked at me seriously. The other fellow asked me to think again . I thought for 5-10 minutes. finally I replied "Left shift it four times".
Very good, U can go "they told"
After 45 minutes of interview, I came out of the room. After the interview, me and KK roamed around the campus discussing our interview. He told that He answered superbly for one Data structure question.I
repetedly told him "I may get the job".
It was 9:45 pm. I was very much hungry. they provided some upma in between but It was not sufficient to satisfy my hunger. The CMC people Discussed for 10 minutes and finalized some names and Gave
that sheet to our PO. He looked the names for sometime and came out of the room and started announcing the names. The first name was the ECE guy. Hey, Next is mine. I was flooded with congrats. I was very happy not for getting the job but for succeding in one interview. next the names of KK, krupa, swapna, yk and tanuja were announced.
I can still remember the faces of YK and swapna on that day who were desperate to get the job at that time. In the hostel I was greeted by bumps rather that congrats. Till May 26th I haven't decided to join in CMC. soon on june 10th We joined in CMC.
In Retrospection, I feel It was my frankness that fetched me the job. But Recently I was failed in oracle interviews because of the over frankness( I will explain this story soon)
