Looking back, 2014 was a significant year. I decided to stay in US for good, moved to bay area and changed technology from Oracle EBS to cloud ERP.
January : Vig and kids are in India and I was in Cleveland, OH. UOM project got scrapped in first few weeks and there was not much of work @ office. Ruthwik came to Uni of Akron and he stayed with me @ my home for few days. weather was terrible with lots of snow. Started applying for Jobs.
February : As part of SWAT team, I got the chance to work closely with business users. Went to Vegas with Amey, Anoop, Rahul, Bhup, Abhishek. Had lots of fun. Stayed at Mirage. I won ~$1000 in Casino. Played Rolet and Blackjack. Went to India in last week of Feb to get Vig and kids from India. Got call from DAX, ATT and Wipr.. Interviews are in full swing.
March : Not much of work @ office, Started preparing for PMP exam. Almost got offers from all the three companies. Got interview call from Google for BSA position in supply chain. Vig and I were thinking a lot about which place to relocate. we nailed down Dallas, Atlanta and bay area. Lot of discussions with friends about pros and cons of each place. We celebrated Abhi's second birthday with few neighbors.
April : Abhi had first hair cut on 10th April. I felt sad to see his hair go. Such a loverly hair. Travelled to Chicago visit Prabhanna. Got offer from DAX, I rejected Wipr offer and also decided not to join ATT as it was contracting position. Around same time, I got interview call from Googl, I cleared telephone round and was asked to come for onsite interview. We decided on relocate to SFO considering lot of options for career and nice weather. Attended onsite interview and interviews went okay.
May: Started ERP assessment work at new client WESC in Pittsburgh. Started travelling from Cleveland to Pittsburgh every week. Abhi has been suffering from multiple ear infections. Spent lot of time visiting doctors. I got rejected by Google. I was not happy with the results.
I was doing some research on future of ERP and came to conclusion that cloud ERP solutions built on salesforce1 platform is the future. I tweeted about the trend and SFDC CEO Marc Benioff retweeted the tweet.
I drove from Pittusburgh to DC to get Agile CSPO certification. By end of may, I was PMP certified. Applied for product manager position at SFDC.
DAX filed my H1 transfer. Went to Zoo with Pranav and his school mates. Manu and Raj visited us and went to Niagara falls.
Vig and I are planning to leave Cleveland by end of June.
June : USCIS asked for additional documentation on my H1 transfer. I was disappointed as it affects lot of things like Apartment lease, pranav school etc. DAX provided all the information but we could not leave Cleveland by end of June as planned. Got confirmation from Ardenwood forest that we got apartment starting 5th July.
My travel from Cleveland to Pittsburgh is going on. Some times, I drove Mon to Pittsburgh, came back to Cleveland Tue night and went back on Wed morning and came back on Thu night. othertimes, I went monday morning and came thursday night. Vig did great job in taking care of kids in my absence.
July : Finally, My H1 transfer got approved. few days before my H1 approval, I was having dinner with Srini in his hotel room. We were discussing about lot of things and I told him about cloud ERP and the discussion went on.. He kind of asked why are you here, if your interest is in cloud ERP and I told him that I'm leaving Deloitte in few days. He was shocked!
I told him about the decision on July3rd. He asked me to stay till July 18th. I talked to Amey, Bhupesh about my resignation. I found it hard to justify to leave Deloitte and move to DAX. But my plan was to move to bay area first and then look out for other options.
Finally, the day has come. We packed lot of stuff and sold some stuff and started to bay area on 19th. YK picked us from Airport and stayed in Manoj bava home. Took Rental car for two weeks and moved to Apartment on sunday 20th. I started with client LF thru DAX on 21st July. Aunty came from India on 24th .Same day, I got call from SFDC regarding the job I applied few months back.
August: I got difficult assignment to solve allocation problems for the client. I am new to ASCP and lot of learning. I got call from SFDC hiring manager and they called for onsite interview. They were looking for insentive compensation experience, I bought three books from Amazon and read two of them. I did great in interviews and hopeful of the job.
Started physical activity. Went walk with YK some times. started hiking to Mission peak on Saturdays.
As I focused lot on SFDC interview, I couldn't do great job on allocation work. Some how, I managed but I'm not happy.
Leased Toyota Prius C car and bought Acura MDX. Had get together at my home. Pranav started his school at Oliviera. Went to Lake Tahoe for labor day .
Tinku got Visa on 21st Aug.
September: SFDC HR told me that they put the position on hold. My search for cloud ERP jobs was going on and applied at Aptt through Linkedin. HR called me next day and scheduled telephonic interview week after. I did very well and they called for F2F interview. All the interviews went very well. After that, I had two rounds of interviews with execs.
Abhi started daycare/school at Montessori school. He cried for first few weeks.
Amma and Sindhu got visa.
October: Got offer from Aptt... negotiated well enough to get matching salary to DAX. Celebrated Dasara and Diwali with family. Also celebrated batukamma festival in Fremont park. Started bikramYoga.
November: Amma and Uncle came from India. We went to Sandiego and Vegas trip. Great trip. My H1 transfer got approved. Resigned DAX. Everyone appreciated my guts to leave Oracle and trying something new.
Bought SLR camera. Went mid night for thanksgiving shopping.
December : Celebrated Pranav's birthday at Kids castle. Joined Aptt on 15 Dec. Trained on product for a week and kind of relaxing for two weeks. Celebrated 31st Dec at Peacock restartent in Milpitas.
Overall, great year! Lot of things happened. I almost met all of my 2014 goals. I read good number of books.
