Cricket Contoversies

It's all about Cricket .. Team A starts batting first and when the Team A is all-out, Team B comes to bat and they wait for Team A players to take the field but none of Team A turns up just becoz their batting was over ..This is precisely the same reason ,why the toss-winning captain prefer batting first . This always happens in my village.

What surprised me most was similar thing happened at Oval ( for different reasons ,though) during Pakistan Vs England match. English batsmen were ready to bat, but none of the Pakistani players turned up..They waited for sometime ,unlike in our village, pakistan players were turned up ,but umpires were not there..(This never happened in my village as we don't really play with Umpires)

Pakistan was accused of ball-tampering and awarded five-run penalty to England .Frustated Inzamam didn't let his team members take the field after Tea break .Meanwhile English batsmen and Umpires waited on the field for 15 minutes, awarded match to England as per rule 2.12 of ICC rule book .Suddenly Pakistan changed their mind and decide to take the filed ,but the umpires were not interested... Read more about this here.

Umpires didn't have any proper proof to suppor their decision .. None of 26 cameras around the ground caught the Pakistan players doing any tampering ,they didn't consult with captain either ,before taking the decision.. This is absolutely ridiculous. Yet another incident of racial discrimination against sub-continet players.. Not long ago, Sachin Tendulkar and entire Indian team accused of Ball-tampering in South Africa ,Murali was always the victim of chucking though ICC cleared his action.

These were many other incidents of this sort and it never happens in my village :)

UPDATE: Adi's post has more views on the very same issue

In our village, we just finish our batting and go home to have lunch, right?! ;)

Inzy must ve felt really hungry that day! LOL!

But yeah, seriously speaking, racism attains its peak when Darrell Hair is the umpire. He must be banned I tell you. But yeah, even Inzy didn't do the right thing by not turning up on the field. He should have played on and later taken it up seriously with the match refree and ICC. Can you believe it that they are now asking BCCI to support them? Well, gentleman's game no longer i suppose. Am planning a post on the same. Let's see how it comes out.

Adi ,two things here...

1)Ball tampering issue
2)How Inzy responded to it and how umpires Messed it up..

As far the first one is concerned,Umpries did a blunder without any concrete proof.. I agree with you completely on banning Hair from umpiring at any level.

For the second point, Inzy did a mistake and empires were correct, on paper (I mean as per ICC rules).. But Inzy did a right thing by protesting in that fashion.. Had Inzy been continued playing and protesting after the match, It wouldn't have any impact on Hair becoz Pakistan already told Match referee after the third test match ,that they don't want to play under Hair, but no one listened and same thing would have happened in this case as well..

In nutshell, ICC should punish both Hair and Inzy ,but Hair deserves a bigger punishment

I didn't know that the Pakis had protested after the third test too. In which case, this decision becomes a tit-for-tat by Darrell Hair and the entire thing attains a different colour.

Still, Inzy is wrong as per laws. But as you say, ICC wouldn't have heard him out otherwise. I agree with that point too.

But I don't think Hair is going to get any punishment at all. Because there is nothing he has done wrong by the law. So, you cannot punish him. You can only call him to a corner and tell him that, "Boss, light le. Yeh sab common hai cricket main."

As per Law, Umpire can award penalty only if ball has tampered by Bowlers or players on the field . Ball could have damaged for many other reasons, like batsmen hitting the ball out of ground or poor ground conditions etc etc.. In this case, Mr.Hair has no clue on what actually happened and put the blame on Pakistanis..

Replace Mr.Hair with Mr.Hariharn and Inzy with Pointing and do you still think that ICC would have supported umpire?

You have a nice blog! Came here from Adi's blog.

When I saw his blog, I thought it's completely Inzy's fault. Now I realised (after these comments) that there is a history behind it!

In this case, both deserve punishment. But then why should Inzy simply not come our for play? He should have voiced his opinion on the first issue and walked off. Right?

I don't know all these "rules" of the game. But then rules are rules. If they are defined, we have to follow them.. no choice. That's professionalism.

After all it's an International cricket match!

The latest news I have heard is that BCCI is going to back ICC with whatever decision it takes. It means that BCCI is supporting Mr.Hair since the ICC cannot go against Mr.Hair.

Why the hell would you do that?. You know the person is against you and you are letting him go. Dont be surprised if Mr.Hair does the same thing to us in future.

I really do not understand why the BCCI is so spineless. It irritates me more than anything else.

There are so many incidents where the sub continent players have been the victims. Murali, Harbajhan, Shoiab Akthar ...Tendulkar has been accused of ball tampering... all the sledging by whites (remember slater to dravid)... And when you compare the punishment the whites recieve to what the sub continent players recieve, you will notice the difference.

I bet Brett lee would never have been allowed to play if he were from sub continent. Since he is an australian there is not even a small debate on his bowling action, as if it is very normal.

I really want to see the BCCI to support its players and fight against people like Hair. Its time to let them know its not a white man's world/game anymore.

Shark: Thanks..

If you go by rules, Yes Inzy was wrong and what Inzy did was good for sub-continent cricket (not professionalism though).

Anonymous Alias Anu (How Adi calls Anons ):

I completely agree with you and Every conterversy ends up in punishing the player from sub-continet ,though the mistake is with others..

On the other hand, I think BCCI is supporting Pak, which is good for Cricket.

Where did you read that BCCI is supporting PCB? AFAIK, BCCI is with the ICC. Whatever the ICC decides is BCCI's decision too.
