It's all happening in August...

Really, never thought so many good things happen in a month. First, I met Prabodhan in Chicago ,enroute to SFO . Met Vijendar and Swarupakka in SFO ,almost after three years. Met another Engg. classmate after eight years.

Got U.S. Bank Account, Credit card in a week. got first U.S. Pay check , 125% bonus in India and hike in U.S. and India , S.S.N in three weeks and started driving in U.S. in less than four weeks . Everything happened just as per plan. This is simply great feeling.

I'm loving this place. Really . If there is any place, that I would like to work apart from Hyderabad, that would be Bay area. I rate this place much higher than other cities I visited so far.

Ten Incidents that changed my life

I read rediff very often and I like stories which they present in slides like 10 best cities, 10 best airports, 10 tips to save tax etc. I thought what would be the ten things that changed my life ,starting from my birth to my son's birth.

Here we go.

1.Dad's Decision: After two daughters and one son ,everyone in the family suggested my dad to go for family planning, but It was my dad's decision to have second son. So, here I'm ,in this world on Jun 1982 .

2.Bringing up with Bapamma : I spent most my childhood with my bapamma (father's mother) and she is one of the best persons I've seen in my life. She is very intelligent and hardworking . All my childhood I was assisting her in whatever the work she does . I was like her assistant ,starting from brining her purse (not exactly purse, it's small bag ,stichted with old clothes ,which she used to keep for her money, tamalapaku ,sunnam and jarda) to carry corn in gulla after they were kept in the hot sun for the entire day, to take washed clothes to outside etc etc. She loved me so much and she used to tell I'm a very good and listen to almost everything she told me and never troubled her. I think my understanding nature has seeds from her.

3. Joining in Kamareddy school : I went to informal school in Kankal, till fourth class and my dad thought of me to send to Kamareddy for better education. I was sent to Kamareddy in Nov 89 to study class five, at the age of seven years. This has seeds of better education and taught me to staying away from family. I still remember I used to cry every day and when I saw my dad one day in hostel ,unexpectedly , I was overjoyed. I still remember this incident and probably this is one of the happiest moment in life.

4. Dad's cry : me and my brother (four years elder) studied in same school, same class till 8th . The school got closed when we were in eighth class. we didn't go to school for the half time in eighth . In the summer (Jun 93) when we went to write entrance test for joining other school, my brother failed in the entrace and principal suggested my father not to continue studies of my brother. I passed the exam with good marks. Just coming out of pricipal's room, my father cried. I saw my father's crying for the first time. He cried because my brother can't continue his studies. He had lot of hopes on us. It was shocking to see my father's crying. I decided then , I will study hard to make my father happy. This was my inspiration to study hard. Whenever I scored good marks, my dad used to feel happy. He used to keep my mark's memo in his pocket and showed it everyone he know. I never let him down.

5.EAMCET1997 - Rank 3744: I joined in Maharajni college in inter first year and this college was shut down in half of inter second year . I joined in another college after one month gap. Physics lecturer suggested me to go to hyderabad for short term coaching for EAMCET . We went to Shalivahana college in Madhapur (It's same Madhapur where we have hitec city now) and I studied very hard for 1.5 months and wrote Eamcet. I didn't have much hopes on the exam and told my dad that I might need to go for long term coaching . My dad denied when I told him that it costs around Rs30,000. On the result day, I was disappointed. I went to college to meet the lecturers and there I had seen in the news paper that Narayana gives free long term coaching for candidates below 4000 Rank. This is the big turning point. I studied very hard in Narayana to get 159 rank and got Computer science seat in C.B.I.T and got placed in campus placements etc etc. Had I not got 3744 rank in the first attempt, I wouldn't have joined Engineering for sure.

6.GRE Preparation: Ravi started reading "Word power mady easy" in second year of Engineering and I got introduced to GRE at that time. I started preparing for the same in third year and wrote the exam on May 10 ,2001 when I was in third year second semester. I got decent score 1980 with 540 in verbal. Coming from a telugu medium background that was good score and I got admission good U.S. schools like ASU and KSU . The vocabulary I learned as part of GRE helped a lot in my career. It helped me to get selected in campus recruitment , in understanding clients business requirements , reading English novels etc. that was a good decision to write GRE ,though I didn't go for U.S for M.S.

7. Prabodhan's factor: I was introvert, shy and had inferior complex and not used to talk much as a child . Spending time with Prabodhan helped to talk more ,not to feel shy for simple things and now I can say I'm not an introvert, if not extrovert. It helped to form my own personality , own likes and own dislikes.

8.Oracle Job: I joined CMC in June 2002 and spent there for one year before I joined Oracle in Aug 2003. Oracle job changed a lot. First, I stopped the idea of further studies, then I worked with Order Management which has good demand outside, I bought my duplex house during that period and appreciation of house helped me to remain in India even though all my friends are in U.S., then helped me to join as functional consultant in consulting which is fulfilling my dream of staying in India close to family as well as roaming around the world at company's cost.

9. Vijendar's factor: Being with Vijendar for almost four years in college, two years in reddy hostel as roommate helped a lot on how to retain friendship. I've the seen the best of friendship in him and I learnt a lot on how to keep in contact with friends from him.

10.Being Dad: I'm the first one to see my son entering this world, what a wonderful feeling it was. The touch of kids is wonderful. when he was four months old, he used to play with legs and when I put my face around that place, it used to be a gentle massage. What'a feeling it was. It reminds of my childhood as well as it increased respect for my parents. All the first time activities of my son (first teeth, first smile, first walk, first tonsure, first words) are wonderful, once in life time experience.

There are so many incidents that changed my life but these are the best....

After three years....

Today , I decided to write one blog post ,at any cost. I was going through some of my previous posts and made me feel good, nostalgic and happy and wonder how lazy I'm to not write anything for three years , which I enjoyed doing for almost two years.

To continue from where I stopped, I got engaged in Jun 2007 , Went Czech Republic for six weeks,got married in Aug 2007 , Went U.K. in Nov , dad was seriously ill ,so had to come back just after 10 days and next three months was meeting lot of doctors, spending lot of time on dad's health and then in apr 2008 ,on the same day when I first saw my wife, we got to know that we will be three .

Moving on, started CSA in Jun 08, worked hard for first two months to setup, then joined this Big 4 consulting firm, went to U.S. in Oct08 and back to India in Nov 08 to see the delivery of my son in Dec 08. Back to U.S in Jan 09 and returned back in Apr 09 , enjoyed seeing my son grow, his first smile, first crawl, first teeth, first steps ,first words amazing... he calls me Daddy very clearly......

I had this chance to travel to Finland for three months, I took my family but they couldn't adjust and sent back after one week of stay.

After three years, here I'm , in Helsinki , in Sokos hotel ,Flamingo ,Room 1225, which has beautiful view of the city. I'm missing my son a lot . on the other hand i'm enjoying my time . I've hell lot of time for myself. I've the time to read the books, browse the net, watch videos on youtube, facebook/twitter and IPL .

As my son growing, i'm growing professionaly too... I'm still unable to understand the politics of the organizations ,not that I wanted to. Professional life is taking me all over the world. Next week i'm travelling to Paris, Geneva, Interlaken, Luzern, Zurich and Berlin for six days. I'm excited.

Good and Bad news

Not very often ,I don't see this situation . At least in the last five years ,I've never been in this state. For some reasons , I'm not in the driver's seat for day to day activities. I 'm having very little control on my daily schedule .

It's been pretty hectic with marriages ,engagements ,get to gethers and i'm enjoying every single moment of it. It's going to be the same for next three weeks. I know 'busy' is an excuse not to blog ,but I can't help it. Sometimes ,I feel there are too many thoughts to blog and it's all blank ,the next minute.

All said and done, the market is dull ,but things look positive. If everything works out, who knows.................

ఇంకో రెండు రోజులు

"హెయ్ సుధాకర్ ,హౌ మెనీ మోర్ డేస్ యు హావ్?" అని అడిగాడు పాల్.
"టు మోర్ డేస్ అని చెప్పా వెంటనే" ,ఏ మాత్రం ఆలొచించకుండా
"వాట్ విల్ యు డు ఫస్ట్ అఫ్టర్ గోయింగ్ టు ఇండియా ?" అని అడిగాడు

నేను ఆలోచించడం మొదలేట్టా... ఉరికి వెళ్ళి అమ్మ నాన్నాలని కలవడం మొదటి పని .... ఇంకా అంటే, బావర్చి బిర్యాని తినడం ,పల్సర్ నడపడం ,మామిడి పండ్లతో అంబలి తాగడం, గిన్నెలు కడాగాల్సిన అవసరం లేకుండా బోజనం చేయ్యడం, కొత్త ఇంటికి వెల్లడం, చుట్టాలందరిని కలవడం .... ఇవన్ని ఒక వారం రోజులు.... కాని తరువతా ?

నెను ఇక్కడికి వచ్చెటప్పుడు వున్న ముగ్గురు కజిన్స్ అమెరికా వెల్లిపోయారు.ఇంకో కజిన్ ,కుందన్ గాడు ఇండియా కి రావడం ,మల్లీ అమెరికా కి వెల్లిపొవడం కుడా జరిగిపొయింది. మిగిలిన ఎకైకా కజిన్ గాడు కుడా H1 అంటున్నాడు.ఇండియా ట్రిప్ కని వచ్చిన సందీప్ గాడు అమెరికా , రాజ్ గాడు అస్త్రేలియా వెల్లిపొబొతున్నారు, ఏప్రిల్ మొదటి వారం లో .(ఇప్పటికే ఒక క్లాస్మెట్ కుడా మిగలలా ,అమెరికా దెబ్బకి ).

మా రూమ్మెట్స్ ,నేను వెల్లిపొయాక ,రూం వెకేట్ చేసి వెల్లిపొయారు. కొత్త రుమ్మెట్ కుడా ఏప్రిల్ అఖరికి పెల్లి చెసుకొని వేల్లిపొతున్నాడు.వరల్డ్ కప్ మీద బాగానే ఆశలు వుండేవీ ,కాని నా కంటే ముందే మన వాళ్ళు వచ్చేస్తున్నారు . ఇంకా మిగిలిన వాళ్ళందరు కుడా వచ్చే సంవత్సరం H1 అంటున్నారు.

ఏంటో ,ఇండియా లో వుండి కుడా NRI లాగా బతకాల్సి వస్తుంది. అందుకె నేను NON -NRI.

(శ్ .... పెళ్ళికి ఇంకా టైం వుంది. మా ఇంట్లొ వాళ్ళెవరు ,ఈ బ్లాగు చదవరు లే )

ప్రొద్దున లేచేసరికి నా వాచ్ లో సమయం తొమ్మిది, కాని మా రూమ్మేట్ ఎమో పది అంటాడు. ఏంటి సంగతి అంటే డే లైట్ అన్నాడు. అంటే ఒక గంట నిద్ర పొయిందనమ్మట...

లాప్ టాప్ లో, సెల్ ఫొన్ లో ,ఒవేన్ లో ,హేటెర్స్ లో, వాచ్ ల లో టైము సెట్ చెయ్యడానికి ఒక అర్ద గంట పొయింది. Outlook లో మీటింగ్స్ (అమెరికన్ సర్వర్ లో వుంటది ) రీ శెడ్యుల్ చెయ్యడానికి ఇంకో అర్ద గంట ఫట్. సరెలె అని తొందరగ నిద్ర పొదాము అనుకుంటె ,కజిన్ నుండి ఫొన్ (అమెరికా లో రెండు వారల కిందటె మొదలు అయిందట) .. ఇంకో గంట పొయింది.

ఎవడికి సేవింగో తెలువదు కాని నాకు మాత్రం ముడు గంటలు బొక్క.

Sudhakar Retires

Sudhakar Reddy , who is the keen follower of cricket from 1991 -2007 , who followed five world cups, more than 150 test matches and 500 ODI matches, lost thousands of hairs analysing many LBW decisions, lost many marks in the exams ,spent many sleepless hours waiting for the cricket match , had increase in eye sight , announced retirment from watching International cricket today .

Sudhakar started watching Cricket at the age of nine ,in 1991 with Pak Vs India match in Sharjah. Incidentally Imran khan (or some other bowler) took the hatrick in the same match with the wickets of Shastri, Azhar and sachin . Sudhakar has great memories of watching 92 world cup by waking up at 3.00 am in the morning and following the scores in between the classes. As every Indian cricket follower (in the period) , Sudhakar became great fan of Sachin Tendulkar after watching his outstanding Centuries at Perth and Sydnet against Austraila.

It was the year 1996 world cup, in which Sudhakar watched all the matches and screwed up his marks in Intermediate first year exams.Tendulkar's 90 against Austraila in Bombay was the most memorable one for the Sudhakar and the defeat against Sri Lanka at Eden gardens was the worst.

Sachin Tendulkar ,Brian Lara, Shane warne, Kevin peterson, Grem smith are the five best players picked by Sudhakar in his 16 year period. Harsha Bhogle , Sunil Gavaskar and Tony greg are the best commentators.

Sudhakar suggested following changes for the betterment of Indian cricket.

1)Sachin Tendulkar and Anil kumble should retire from International cricket
2)Rahul Dravid should step down as captain.
3)Grep Chappel should be sacked.
4)Sehwag and Dhoni should be Sacked.
5)Sourav should be back as captain with Youvraj as deputy and the sole objective of Sourav is to groom Youvraj and bring other young talented players back in the team.
6)Sachin Tendulkar should take over as batting coach.

What's going on here ... This worldcup has more surprises than expected in the first five days. I'm not talking about India's awful match , neither Irish win over Pakistan. It was a shock to know that Bob woolmer is passed away. Something is terribly going wrong behind the scenes.

లెగ్ అన్నా లెగ్ !

I was telling somebody how much luck I bring to everyone. And I consider everyone who studied alongwith me in the same batch as I did to be really blessed. And if you were in the same states at the same time as I was then oh my! you are as elite as I am! Our fundamentals are very strong. Why? Because we studied the same thing over and over again. Check it out:

1992:
When I was in my 7th standard in Nizamabad, it was the public exam and I was all serious about it. That's when it all started. My fundamentals really becoming strong you see! The exams got canceled because papers leaked. And I had to study all over again!Three years, weak in fundamentals phase went on. Then God became kind.

1995:
10th standard, AP, yet again paper leaked. Fundamentals that much more stronger now!

After I passed out of my school, the school itself closed down! Whew! That was close! And in the meanwhile, the school in which I studied till my 3rd standard also closed down. Well, if you thought that was some track record, then read ahead.

Two years later, another fundamentals revision class.

1997:

Intermediate II year (XII Std) AP, after we wrote our first two exams, we went to the examination center as usual on the "Mathematics/ Biology" day. Some newspaper, I don't remember which one, it doesn't exist today, had printed the entire paper on its first page. (I was about to type homepage! LOL!) There you go. I would have got 100% in all those subjects!

Same year:
IIT JEE papers leaked. For the first time in the history of IITs, the exam was canceled and rescheduled. I would have got through the first time you know! You are reading a blog of a could-ve-been IITian.

EAMCET, AP, paper format was changed that year. For the only time in its history as well as future. Never again have they introduced that stupid analytical type of paper!

CET, Karnataka, counselling sessions got scheduled and canceled and confusion prevailed before they allowed us to pick an engg seat.

Oh and yeah! My Intermediate college closed down after that!

Somehow scraped through all this. Made it to some college of engineering where thankfully the processes were more stable and even if the paper leaked (no proof of that) we never came to know(sad though!).

By the time we were about to have our campus placements, the IT boom was supposed to be at its peak. So, we had the best placements ever. With the highest salary ever and all that! But by the time we were about to finish our engg and join those companies, the bubble burst! And we also received the highest number of offer-revoking letters ever! A few companies ceased to exist! Anyway, that can be termed a coincidence if you want. My leg cannot have that reach!

By the time we finished our engg, it was September 11, 2001. And Osama thought it was the right time to strike US. Does he also belong to my batch? Well, terrorising thought! So, let me leave it at that.

I joined my first company CMC, which doesn't exist anymore. It's taken over by TCS.Think about the the customer for whom I write software. UWB. It's being taken over by IDBI now!

I joined Oracle Corporation after that. And for the first time in the history of the organization they laid off people on a global level ,twice in the two years. Incidentally Larry Ellision bought more companies than the no. of shirts I bought in that period.

When I decided not to screw up any more prodcuts , I moved to consulting (from Prodcut Development) and joined IG in Hyderabad and there were strong rumours that Wipro was going to take over the company.

Oh! I forgot this one. I decided to write Subject GRE in 2002. And had applied for it and booked a date. Again a never before never again thing happened. Afterall, my leg na. It was cancelled. No reasons given. Money was refunded.

Then, I started blogging enthusiastically and had posted three posts in a week when the Governement of India blocked blogs itself. The tool which I used to write my first telugu post (లేఖిని)was down for the entire day and It's the warmest year (in the last 150 years) in Czech Republic.

P.S: I thought of translating to Telugu first, but dropped that idea as I'm skeptic of justifying Adi's work. reposting it just to reach more telugu audience thourgh koodali and Thenegoodu , who can relate most of the story to themselves. అదేంటో కాని.....

..... రాత్రిల్లు సరిగా నిద్ర పట్టడం లేదు.ఎంత వద్దన్నా కాని అవే ఆలోచనలు. మనసంత బాధగా వుంది. ఏవరికి బాధ వుండదు చేప్పండి, చిన్నప్పటినుండి మీతొనే వున్నవి దూరం అవుతుంటె?.... నేను మా నాన్న కి ఏమని సమాధానం చెప్పను ? మా మిత్రులందరు 'I can't believe it' అంటుంటె నా మొహం వాల్లకి ఏలా చుపించను?

నాకు ఉహ తెలిసినప్పటినుండి ,నా తొనే వుంది. స్కూల్ లో చదివే రోజుల్లొ కొద్దిగ అనుబందం పెరిగింది.. ఇంజనీరింగ్ రోజుల్లో అయితె విడదీయరానంతగా దగ్గరయింది.నాకు ఎంతో మంది మిత్రుల్ని చేసింది. అందరు అనుకున్నట్టుగ ఉద్యోగం లొ చెరిన వెంటనె నేను దాన్ని విడవలెదు, కాని నా మనసు ఎప్పటినుంచొ శంకిస్తూనే వుంది ,ఏదో ఒక రోజు నువ్వు అది లెకుండానె బతాకాల్సి వస్తుందని . ఆ రొజు ఇంకో మూడు నాలుగు నెల్లలొ వచ్చెస్తుంది. నాకు తెలిసిన వారెవరైన ,దాన్ని ,నన్ను విడిగా చుసినట్లు నాకు గుర్తుకు లెదు.. అలాంటిది, ఇప్పుడు... మా నాన్న కస్టార్జితమిన .......................

నా మొదటి తెలుగు టపా (My First Telugu Post)

ఏన్నో రోజులనుండి అనుకుంటున్నాను తెలుగు లో రాయాలని, ఇప్పటికి తీరింది నా కొరిక.ముందుగా మిత్రులు రానారె గారికి ధన్యావాదాలు ,నాకు తెలుగు లో రాయడానికి ప్రేరన కలిపించినందుకు ,అలానే మిత్రురాలు లేఖిని కి కుడా ,నా స్వప్నాన్ని నిజం చేసినందుకు.

మొదటి ఉద్యోగం, మొదటి గడ్డం గీయడం ,మొదటి ముద్దు( ఏదో ప్రవాహం లో రాసాను, సుధాకర్ ఇంకా మంచి బాలుడే) లాగ మొదటి టప కుడా ఓక మధుర ఙ్నాపకంగా వుంచుకోవలంటే ఏమీ చేయ్యాలా అని ఆలోచిస్తుండగ, చించింది చాలు గాని ఏదొ ఓక పేరు పెట్టు మొదటగ, అని అన్నాడు నా లోని అంగ్ల బ్లాగరు(వాడికి నాకు అసలు పడదండి బాబు, ఇన్ని రోజులు గా తెలుగు లో ఏమి రాస్తవు, English లొ రాయు, నీ Profession కి కుడా ఉపయోగపడుతుంది అన్నాడు వాడు వెధవ, లేకపోతెనా..... ఈసారీ Indibloggies లో.... అగాండాగండి .....మొదటి బహుమతి గురుంచి కాదు నేను అంటున్నది, విహారి గారి సరసన చెరొచ్చని అంతె!!! (నా వోటు నాకే కద మరి)),మరి నేను (నా లొని తెలుగు బ్లాగరు అని కుడా చదువుకోవచ్చు) ఉరుకుంటానా..... రాయడం ప్రారంభించిన 21 రోజులకు కదా పేరు పెట్టెది....లైటు తీస్కో అని బదులీచ్చా, కాని వాడు ఏమన్నాడంటె...ఓరెయ్ పిచ్చి వెధవ, నీ తెలుగు బ్లాగర్ల సంగం లో అందరు ప్రవసాంధ్రులే... అమెరికా లో పుట్టిన వెంటనే పేరు పెడుతారు, అది కుడా తేలియదా? అని బంతిని నా కోర్టు లోకి నెట్టాడు.

I'm sleeping for almost 10 hours a day, exceptions are early meetings in the morning or phone calls from Sridhar

My stay is extended for one more month.It looks like it might extend for one more month ,but my VISA expires by Mar 31.

I bought Cooker and preparing Rice for dinner in the hotel. This is giving me more options to experiment for Lunch.

I'm mentally not ready to eat Pork and Beef

Some of my calls to U.S. are charged at $20 per minute.. Screw this. I stopped calling completely from Hotel.

I bought new sim card from O2 after five days of struggle. My mobile number is there on my Orkut.. Give me a call please.. It's thirty times cheaper from India (Rs 7 per minute) and US (4 cents per minute)

My new business is going on well.

My employer is processing H1B for next year.I've not made a decision yet .

Youtube is the major source of entertainment.

Almost covered all the good places here. Usti nad Labem was the latest in the list.

I'm missing India. Not sure, what exactly I'm missing ,but on the back of my mind there is a feeling like I'm missing something.

we have the people from Czech, UK,US and Portugal in the team. Czech guys leave everyday by 4:30 PM, Portugal guys leave every Thursday, UK guys leave on every Friday, US guys go back for every two weeks ,and we have to stay till our VISA expires. Damn!!!!

I'm currently reading the controversial How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild, and Got A Life. May be you can expect my next blog post as How Sudhakar got screwed, Got mad and lost interest in reading books. It's just awful.

I'm going to do the same thing on this Feb 14, like all the previous years. Hoping that "Mera Number Ayega" in the next year.

It reminds me of my hostel stay in school days. Some of the similarities.

1)My workplace and stay are both in the Hotel. So was our hostel rooms and class rooms.
2)Walk in the cold weather reminds me of early morning P.T. session in the hostel. (Thank god, I'm not sleeping with wearing socks ,which we used to do in the school to sleep for more time in the morning)
3)Food ... My hostel food was no different from what I'm eating here.
4)No phone calls.
5)No Access to Television. It's difficult to watch CNN everyday

It's a historical place . Walk on the Chrales bridge was simply awesome.
People here are very helping, but their English skills are very poor.
It's all numbers game at the food. I eat 7 for break fast, 3 0r 7 or 8 for Lunch and 101 or 104 for dinner. In chinese restarent, We have to decide the item by looking at the photo of the item on the wall. You are lucky ,if you get what you would like to eat.
Weather is pretty good . Avearage temparature is around 4-5 Centrigrade and no snow.( It was around -20 C ,same season last year and it's warmest year in the last 150 years. Some Intelligent people call it as global warming effect and their dumb counterparts blame it on my leg)
Women are pretty and men are sexy (Bald men are sexy, you know!!!!)
Call to India from my hotel is damn expensive (Around Rs 210 per minute) and the best way to call to India is call your friend in U.S and ask him to connect to India number. This way it's costs only Rs.5 per minute including India and Czech calls.
Drinking habits of these guys are beyond my imagination. well, some of them booze every day and others three times a day.
It's easy to get Coke and Beer than water.
When I asked for Tea, they served me hot water and when I asked for Water ,they gave me Soda. If you want Water which you drink in India, you have to ask for water with no gas.
If you look at the size of the dogs, You agree with me that major chunk of Czech Economy is wasted on feeding the dogs.
The only channel I can watch here is CNN and it's Iraq crap.
Quality of Bread you get here is excellent (Especially in Italian Restaurents)
Most women's name is Lenka and Most of men's name is Petr
I didn't see any desi so far here . The only incident I heard of desis was Abhishek and Aishwarya were here on Christmas weekend.
Indian Restarent is damn expensive. Idli and Samabar costs around Rs 2,400.
Food is ok, you can have good Lunch / Dinner for 200-300 Rs.

Mr. Fate

It was only twenty days in this new year ,but Mr. Fate was busy and took me to the extremes of joy and sarrow.

To start with ,It was a great new year party with my old roomies back in the room. Though some of them were missed , the party was great . I met some of my cousins ,who won't be there when I return back from Czech Republic. On the second day of the new year, spent some time with Srujan and did shopping and in the early hours of third, I flew to Czech Republic.

On 5th ,one of my uncle got accident and two days after ,my grand mother passed away and It was tough to digest these things. Busy schedule at work didn't let me think about that but the nights back in the hotel room were tough. Mr. fate was at his cruel best this week.

The following week, I got my exam results and I passed with the score of 304 /330 and that puts me among the first 130 members from India to get this certification (probalby, first 2000 members across the globe). More importantly, our V.P. agreed to pay my exam amount back. Mr.fate was completely in good mood entire this week.

I'm a blogger.... Need I say more?

When I started blogging eight months ago, I never really thought, I would reach this far ,but now with 50 posts , 4,000 site views ,500 profiel views, readers from almost all the continents, I feel good . Considering the fact that none of my friends blog ( well, couple of them do, but once in a blue moon) , this is nothing less than remarkable.

I would like to thank you all, for being with me throught this journey ,What this blog seriously lacking is constructive criticism. I know there is lot of room for improvement and you feedback will really help me in making My perspective a better blog.

This is a different world, I always say to my self, when I think of blogging. You get to know, different views, different emotions, different expressions, lot of humor, lot of information and it's learning in more ways than one. I enjoyed being a blogger. I enjoyed thoroughly.

On a different note, I reached Prague ( Czech Republic) safely and got settled down in Hotel Lev, getting used to food . Hopefully, you can expect some posts on Czech roads, travel, food, weather and pretty women.

Onsite trip

First, It was Arizona & Kansas, which were rejected by me, then California trip was just missed . I chose Sanghai(China) over New Jersey ,but Sanghai gave a big hand.. slight hopes of Dublin(Ireland) and finally Prague is playing the host for me.

It's all set for my first onsite trip, first one in my four and half years of experience and I'm excited. I'm starting here ,on the third day of next year and will be back by 1st March.

Around six months back, an 18-year old boy sent an friend request in Orkut after seeing my profile in Larry Ellison community. As we both like Larry, our friendship continued and we became good friends now..

I like the way he thinks and I strongly believe that he has the ability to achieve what he dreamt of.. He is now running three different businesses and now, close to cracking the deal with one of the fortune 500 client.

We chat frequently on Google chat and he calls me Anna and today, he pinged me and asked

"so, at any point if I need you to join along with me to my Company, will u?"

What I answered him was out of context here ,but I'm delighted ..

"You are watching India's fist ever 20-20 international, Live and Exclusive on ESPN", Harsha and Allan were screaming almost every over ,the other day. Agreed, Cricket is religion in India ,but why those guys were so excited for a game, which was being played by many people in many gullies in India for many years. What I exactly mean is

We (boletho, my co-players in my village) were playing 20-20 cricket for many years. Infact 20-20 is the longest version of cricket game in my village. Others were 12-12 & 6-6 and this 20-20 was almost similar to the game we played ,like

1)Players(Batting side) sit just next to the boundary line ( like we do)
2)Two batsmen are always ready with their pads ,gloves and gurads on (similar to my village, except that these two batsmen will run fast once the wicket falls and the one who reaches the crease faster, will get the chance to bat)
3)Batting side (sometimes commentators) will get the chance to sledge fielding side (unlike in other forms of cricket)

This version of 20-20 is lacking many features from the 20-20 we play, like

1)Bat only at one side of wicket [the intention of 20-20 is to save the time]
2)No L.B.W. rule and hence no need of umpires, instead you can put two batsmen in the place of umpires ,which will save the time of batsmen walking to pavilion.
3)No No-balls, No Legbye's and all other stupid rules in the game of Cricket.
4)Batsmen sledging batsmen, to get the chance to bat (Remember 20-20 is more of entertainment ,than the game)
5)If team batting first gets out in X number of overs, otherside will get the chance to bat only X number of overs .

On a different note, this match took me to the best 20-20 game ,I ever played in my life.. That match was on Dusera 1997, between juniors and seniors in my village. Seniors scored 120 off 20 overs . I didn't remember how many wickets I took ,except that I was badly injured while taking simple return catch. We started chasing 120 and lost two wickets without scoring any runs. my self(31 not out, with a beautiful straight drive) and the other player (scored 70) built up an partnership and evetually won by 5 wickets. In the next season, because of my morethan 12-hour per day study, my health detorirated and I began to fear the cricket ball and my scores were mostly 0&1 (Incidentally, it is the same period, I joined in Computer Science Engineering). Then I changed to fast bowling ,but didn't last long because of poor fitness, next avataram was spin bowling ,then as Umpire & coach and finally settled as Cricket spectator [In other words, I was the captain -> I was the first one to be chosen -> I was among first 4-5 players ->I was chosen after they look around and if nobody found -> I was asked to umpire -> I was advised to take rest]

Exam Update

I was supposed to be in examination center around 1.30 PM ,but I started much early around 10.00 am from my room as the examination center is around 35 km far and the last train to that place was at 10.00 am.

I enjoyed the journey as I always do.Finished reading the last two chapters of 'The Google Story' book ,which were pending for so many days. I was at Arts College by 11.00 am and my Examination centre was around 3 km from that place.

Still It was 11.30, two more hours for the exam.. Had second breakfast of the day.. bought Water bottle and the time was only 12.00 PM. I was just looking around thinking how to pass time and I found an road side bookseller.. Went there and had a look at all the books. I almost had all the book ,which I otherwise would be interesting in buying . Finally picked up 'Inheritance of Loss ' by Kiran Desai for Rs.110.

Exam started around 2.00 PM and the first seventy five questions were very easy.. I was just passing time(Cross checking the answere again) assuming that next 100 questions will be of same toughness ,but I was completely wrong . Next 100 were bouncers, I was able to elimiante only one option and some times none... 10% of the questions were out of syllabus (meaning ,not covered in their course material) .Was managed to sit for four hours and when I was about to give my answere paper, I realized that I'm the only one in the exam hall (Initally we were around 40 members and this center was for two different exams one was three hour exam and mine was four hour exam). Scoring 80% on this paper seemed extremely difficult and not was in great mood.

Came out of the hall and there was the other guy waiting outside (we were only two writing this exam,from hyderabad). We introduced ourselves and started discussing about the paper. He was also of the same opinon that second half was tough ( Just like we say 'Second half was boring', when talk about movies) and continued discussion about some of the questions .. He was very funny and he made me laugh my heart out.. We walked for more than 3 km and we exchanged our visiting cards, thinking that group study might be helpful for the next time.

During this discussion, I came to know about the relative scoring for this exam, meaning I need not to score absolute 80%, but 80% relative to best of all the people appeared around the world . It means that even if I don't answer the toughtest question correctly, I mayn't be loosing much marks, but mistake for easy question will cost me more... This is the hope , Which makes me feel that I might get on..

Nevertheless, Last two months were fun, I enjoyed my prepartion and lot of positives to look upon, like I was able to think big, was able to think ahead , was able to take risk and Let's hope for the best.

Enjoyed the return journey back to my room ,with cool breeze flowing towards my face and a nice book on my hand ,reminded me the days of my 3 month working experiece with AXX.

VVS Laxman is now appointed as Vice captain in Test Cricket, though he left out for one of the Test match in Srilanka Series.

Ganguly is a better one-day player (than Tests) ,but included in Test Squad.

Sehwag has good scoring records in Test than ODI ,but his vice captaincy in ODI is retained.

Dinesh Karthik without wicket keeping skills is no better than Venugopal Rao(Second highest scorer in Domest ODI season) ,but is included ODI squad..

Going by all these, we might see Azharuddin in Indian team very soon (may be as a captain).

I went to Apollo hospital today to meet Dr. Indira reddy for showing Dad's reports. I was waiting for the doctor , during that time A old man in blue suit came near to the place where I sat and discussing something with the doctors over there.. that guy looked familiar , I tried to recollect who he is and by the time it struck to my mind he left.. He is Dr. Pratap Reddy ,CEO of Apollo hospitals, who was pioneer for Corporate hospitals in India... Missed the chance to appreciate his great work ,esp ,the infrastructure inside Apollo hospital. I had great experience with following doctors and I'll be thankful to them esp Dr. Indira Reddy.

Dr. Indira Reddy -- General Physician (for Diabetis, B.P. kind of problems)
Dr. Sheshagiri Rao -- Cardiologist
Dr. Krishna Swaroop Reddy -- Pediatrician (not with Apollo now, with Pacific hospitals)
Dr. Priyamvada Reddy -- Gynocolgist (all ladies related problem)
Dr. Rajesh Fogla -- Opthalmogist
Dr.Subramanyam -- Urologist .

If you are in Hyderabad and looking for specialist doctors in above fields, I would definitely suggest above names. Cost wise, it's kind a expensive for non-IT guys , reasonable for IT and cheap for NRIs.

Exam prepration

Here is where I stand , with four days to go...

Able to answer all the time 65%
Unable to answer 5%
Able to eliminate two choices 30%

I'm able to hit 80% most of the time and it is all going to depend on how much I make it on that 30% of questions.. I'm practising as much questions I can and figuring out the topics ,which I need to re-study.

And the pass mark for this exam is 80% ...and 70% of time i'm able to get it .. remaining , it is variing from 70 - 90% and once I got 100% and other time 60%...

It is all going to depend on how much I concentrate for four straight hours and i'm confident enough of cracking it.

Let's wait and see..

(un)Luckily , I decided not to participate in AIDS day(Dec 1) volunteer activities becoz of this exam (atleast it saves me from the question like "Can you give an demo please?")

Needless to say, I'm excited and eagerly waiting for this stupid exam to get finished.

It was all started in final year of Engg ,with giving GRE guidance and continued with helping them choose appropriate universities, F1 visa process, Assisting interviews, shopping, packing their luggage, Taking printouts with their address, booking flight tickets, Visiting Begumpet Airport (the only 24/7 job i've done so far; atleast 100 times), Taking care of their's parents health (Visited All dept in Apollo ranging from pediatrics, Gynocology, cardiology,opthalmogy and not less than 50 times), seven time Chennai consulate visit (For F1,H1,H4),Collecting Degree certificates, Sending different kind of items ranging from CD's (Cut Drawers) ,chutneys ,arranging trips, Printing Wedding cards, delivering birth day gifts, money transfers, Planning their Honeymoon trips, Guiding House selection, selecting appropriate House loans and rates ,giving Oracle Apps training and it's still continuing....

Most of the times It was happy doing ,but now, with the wastage of three crucial days of time before my important exam , I'm completley pissed off and I wish I were NRI.

Hyderabad Real Estate: My Perspective

A flat worth of 9.5 Lakhs two years back ,is now costing around 30 Lakhs . A duplex house worth of 25 Lakhs (in Apr 2005) is now costing around 70 Lakhs (don't search for calculator ,it is $150k) . Land worth of Rs.500 per sq yard(2.5 years back) is around Rs 13,000.

Why? Here is my take.

1)When compared to other places in India(Noida, Pune,Banaglore), Real estate rates were very low in Hyderabad before mid 2005.

2)as per new G.O. by Govt .of A.P, Builders have to lease out fist floor to M.C.H. and minimum area to construct aparatment is 550 Sq. yards . Because of this rule, many builders stopped constructing new apratments and the builders who got permission before that G.O. are increasing prices as per their wish

3)Low interestate rates on house loans(7.25 %floating in Apr 2005) and not much hassles in getting the loan.

4)NRIs are spending huge amounts, without really evaluating it's worthness.

Will the boom continue? Is it right to invest now? Here we go...

1)Hyderabad catched up with other places in India(ofcourse ,some places in U.S. also). So, stable on this front

2)There is huge pressure on Govt. to revert back that G.O. If that is done ,we can expect some decrease in prices (atleast some stability on prices)

3)Interest rates increased by 2%(9.25% now) and Banks are not as much interested as they were because of RBI guidelines. .. so kind a stable on this front

4)IT Boom is really good in U.S. and our NRI's are making good money ..This reason drives Real estate boom now. If our NRI's invest intelligently (or stop investing for 5-6 months ),then we can expect some stability on this front as well.

In nutshell, if you invest now, You can expect goods returns on your money (say 15-20%), but if you are expecting 100-200% (like last year), then stay away from real estate.

Save the IT People from Debts

I've been watching Hyderabad Real estate closely for the last three years and the following e-mail forward made lot of sense to me... If I were the author of this post, subject would have been 'Save NRI from Debts'.. I'm not kidding... Hyderabad IT people can't afford to buy a 3-BHK flat in hyderabad ,forget about the non-IT people. I was discussing the same with one of my cousin today and he said even non-IT NRI's could't afford these rates.

Though I have not written it, I completley agree with these stats.

Year 2005 -2006 , Some of the well known builders started the rates boom , flat which was at the cost of Rs.900 Sq Ft now became 2200 to 2800

--> No Same Scheme/Area , Flat sold at 10 Lacks Now selling at 25 Lacks .
Q: Why Property increased so High ?
--> IT people competition to buy sweet home ...
Q: Who is going to Benfit from this Property Boom ?

Q: How is the Bank's support on Home Loans ?
--> Last Year, Bank gave the loan's at flexible mimimum rate, Now Banks has sufficient number of customers , (Trap) Slowly Banker's increasing interst at % 0.5 every month .

--> Some of the area don't have the Corporation water at all , People surviving on Water Tankers.
** MESB .. Under Table ,can be managed easily .
Q. What will be the condition If We are not able to Clear the Loan ?
--> Depends on individual capabilities
Q. What wiil be the actual 'area of living' or carpet area if the builder proposes 1000 sft?
....> The actual carpet area will be 800-850 sft only. The common area is also included in the proposal.

If two flats are in the same floor, then the builder cheats both the residents by collecting.

How do Builders cheat buyers? ... Let us see with a simple example

Builder XXXX proposes a flat in a decent residential area.
Rate ( Unit Price ) - Rs. 3500 sft.
Registration - Rs. 40 per sft.
EB and drainage - Rs. 50,000
Covered Car park - Rs. 1,25,000
Corpus fund - Rs. 50000.

For a 1000 sft flat ( 850 sft carpet area ), the approximate cost will be Rs.37,65,000. In the same plot area ( measuring 2 grounds) the builder would have constructed 8 or 10 flats.

Let us see how a builder earns his profit

Total sales for the builder - 37, 65,000 *10 = 3, 76, 50000 ( 3.76 crores)
Cost of the land - Rs. 40 laks per ground

1) Total cost of the land - 80 lakhs for two ground ------- A
Total builtup area for 10 flats - 10*1000 sft = 10,000 sft
Construction cost per sft ( for normal specification) = Rs. 900 per sft
2) Total construction cost - 10,000 * 900 = Rs. 90,00,000 -------------- B
3) Other expenses for the builder - Rs. 20 per sft = Rs. 2,00,000 ................. C
Total expenses for the builder = A+ B+C
= Rs. 80,00,000 + Rs.90,00,000 + Rs. 2,00,00
= Rs. 1,72,00,000 ( 1.72 crores approx)
Total Sales = Rs. 3.76 crores - Rs. 1.72 crores
Total profit of the builder = Rs. 2.04 crores.
Let us see the share of each resident
1. Cost of land = Divided share among the other 10 residents
= Rs. 80,00,000 / 10
= Rs. 8,00,000
2. Construction cost = Rs. 900 * 1000
= Rs. 9,00,000
3. Other expenses = Rs. 2,00,000 ( approx)
Total = Rs. 19,00,000 ( Nineteen lakhs)
The total share for each resident is Rs. 19,00,000 ( Nineteen lakhs only )
but he pays Rs. 37.5 laks for the flat.
Q. How We can stop Builders -Property Boom ?
1) IT People should stop buying flats for at least next 1-2 Yrs.
2) Once rates are reasonable, with some legal process get the Booking.
3) Check Facilities, Convince, Road Approach, schools & Mainly co-operation water
4) Ask Questions If I buy 1/2 BHK at 12 to 30 Lacks, Do I get reasonable value in future?
5) Today you are capable for paying 1000 -3000 maintenance per month? Will it be the same case after 20-30yrs after retirement?
6) In All, Don't stretch more to get the more & more loans other wise it will create unnecessary pressure and tension.
7) Read the above mentioned calculation carefully, when you are about to buy a flat pls keep this in mind.

It's an honor and privilege to see my auto biography written by Adi. Thank you very much Adi.

All these incidents have huge impact on the way I think ,the way I approach my life and carrer, perhaps ,it is the same thinking that forced me to take up this exam .. Safe side Yaar.. If I get certified is SCM , I can try jobs in other ERP, even if Oracle crushes.

On a completely different note, my prepration is going on well ,and I'm going home to celebrate Dasara with my parents (Yep, I'm going to ride 120 KM on my Pulsar tommarow).

Change is the only constant in life and my life is no exception.. Blogging has been my top priority for the last three months and now, I've something else to do in free time. Remembering Room(ies)

Three years... Seems like life time... Seems like only yesterday.. Memories of hunting for room along with KK is still afresh in my memory. Exactly three years back, myself and kk came to this house after seeing the ad in Vijetha super market.. It's an very big house with three bedrooms, spacious hall, Kitchen and three bathrooms.. All for just Rs.3,000 including puppy( dog).

We were seven of us when we entered this house. Myself, Srujan and Prabodhan (Both are my cousins) in one room, KK & YK(Both are my Engg. Friends ) in the other and Vamshi & KT (C.M.C. colleagues) in the third bedroom. Me,KK & YK were just joined Oracle, Prabodhan was in search of jobs, Srujan Preparing for masters and KT & Vamshi were still working at C.M.C.

And now, after three years ,I'm the only one ( with new roomies, ofcourse) in the room. Vamshi is styaing with his parents now, KT got married, Prabodhan went to U.S and got married recently, Srujan is about to complete his masters in U.S , KK & YK are working in U.S and I'm here writing this blog . Missing you guys, esp, rides with Srujan and his aerobic excerises in b/n lunch, chatting/arguing with Prabodhan, walks with YK, KK torture , all the carrom games we played and all the leg-pulling stuff.

Then comes Sridhar Maddi, Non-drinker by his own definition ( He vomits all his drink.. Only time he didn't , had to spent more than the party amount in the hospital) and last of my cousins who stayed with me in room.. Managed to send him out (lekapothe, nenu nidralo matladuthunna ani comment chestava).. Miss you sridhar and thanks for visiting me regularly. Your words of declaring the week (you got your first job )as 'Alcoholic week' is still floating in my mind (Nee comment naku telusu.. Blagula meeda blagulu rastunnavu.. kani, naku orkut testimonial matram rayadam ledu.. anthe ga??? )

The list goes on and I stayed with more than 20 roomies in this period. Recent roomies are Sridhar Tandle,Raja and Kishore.. I can call this as interent era in room.. Heights of it was , Raja and kishore exchanging scraps in orkut with raja being in bedroom and kishore in the hall . Thank you Raja, for taking care of most of the room works... Sridhar Tandle is the last of my roomies who left recently and miss him too..

I remeber this room as the room, which welcomes you with more than 60 shoe-pairs in the first room; as the room where last six month news papers are piled up; room where you don't have to worry for preparing food ; room where everyone feels that he is better cook than others ; room where dhobi provides door-service ;room where you wait till 12 AM on saturdays to watch maa T.V ;room which is not clean (except my room ,ofcourse) ;room where bike stand was full of bikes ; room where you fight for flakes; room where we give Gaana Gaadidha and Gaana Kaaki awards to stop other roomies from singing(Congrats Sridhar & KK for winning the award for many times) ;room where left-over rice in the night is converted to Egg-fried rice, the next morning; room where you bring vegetables in the friday market ; room where you decide to go for movie just five minutes before the cinema starts ; room where you play Carrom games till 2 am (oh ya!! All those games were really fun); room which is fitness freak (Swimming,Gym,Walk, Jog, Yoga,dumbels, skipping .. you name it ,atleast one of our roomies must had tried it); room where everyone loves fruits,but no brings them;room where you go to near by lake and booze ; room where we consume atleast 2-3 dozen eggs per week(there was big fight between yk and Rakesh on how many eggs to bring per week 40 or 50) ; room where we discussed 'Srujan loves Puppy' or 'Puppy loves KK'; room where we celebrated just becoz seven of us had dinner together ,most importantly as the room which gave settlement to all of us.

It would be unfair to finish this post,without mentioning about owner's family. Vig uncle is one of the best person ,I ever met in life .. The way he does the things on his own, even at the age of 70 is truly amazing. Aunty is part of our family now.. she keeps on asking about my roomies very often and she misses Srujan as much as I do.

You stupid roomies.. Have you ever realized how much scrap you left in this room??

It was around 11:55 pm... I was still infront of television (It's Sunday night ,not saturday night ) watching (no, not Maa TV) a tennis match. Score board shows it's a set point for Agassi, I was a bit relaxed hoping that game will go into fifth set. Suddenly It shows Triple match point for Becker. Becker ready to serve , Agassi eyes were full of tears, It was an Ace.. All over , End of 20 + year tennis career ..Agassi burst into tears and it was a well deserved five-minute standing ovation from the crowd.

Agassi is the legend in his own style(I'm not a very great fan of Agassi though). Some of the matches he played (Esp with Sampras) will be in memories of Tennis lovers for many years. A veteran of 60 ATP titles and 8 grand slam winner and richest tennis player till date.. More about his achievements are here

The scoreboard shows that I lost today, but what it doesn't show is what I found. Over the last 20 years I have found loyalty, you have pulled me through on court and also in life. I have found inspiration - you have willed me to succeed - and I have found generosity. I thank you and I will take you and the memory with me for the rest of my life.

I love these moments in sports .It touches my heart.I almost burst into to tears ,when Kapil Dev quit Internation cricket( I was an 12 year old then) and It makes me sad ,when I think of Sachin Tendulkar's retirement.

"Any surprises during the week?" was one of the question in the final wrap-up meeting.. S.H. says " Here is one guy ,who is never out of Hyderabad for work.." Every one else in the room surprised as well and me too surprised as I never realized this news about me will be a surprise..

"What are the challenges ?" was the another question.Working hours is the biggest challenge to me.I personally prefer working in 7-4 or 8-5 timings ,but I have to work from 12-8 when the client is in Europe and 2-10 ,when the client goes back to U.S.

Went out to 'Run way 9' , had Biryanis and Pizzas at Lunch , 4-5 hr discussions per day, they were impressed with the hospitality, I'm impressed with S.H's patience ,
I'm surprised to know that T.H. liked Hyderabani Biryani ,very much.. we had it couple
This project is very different from many of the consulting projects. Very rarely, clients visit to give requirements but It really worked out well as we got most of the things clarified. Zain deserves the credit for it.

Went out to Runway9 and had fun.. we divided into four teams 'SCM Team', 'Fin Team', Tech & DBA Team' and 'Sales Team' and played Go-carting, archery,shooting etc..

This client has a very strange business model. They sell the same product with three different brands. It's like making easy things very complex . (May be they need Oracle ERP just becoz of their complex business model and ). To the best of my knowledge ,only Oracle makes Salespeople life difficult by offering similar services with different brands ,but they have a reason as they acquired all other ERP Vendors (Except SAP)

Didn't get a clear answer, but I personally felt, these guys made a simple business to complex and eventually complex ERP like Oracle can support this

Karuvu tharuvatha Thufanu (Cyclone after drought) was exactly my situation at work for last ten days.. After about two months on bench, I was assigned to this project and just after a week after this project got kicked -off , client visited us. W.J & K.S came from U.K. and Z.A,S.H, T.H& V.R. came from U.S and couple of our sales folks were with them.

Good mix of people ,I'll tell you.. we had people from Business, I.T. ,sales, Tech consultants, Functional consultants (SCM,OPM & Finance) and average experience of people in the room was more than 10 years . Most of things were too technical to write here ,but last 10 days were full of fun and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Cricket Contoversies

It's all about Cricket .. Team A starts batting first and when the Team A is all-out, Team B comes to bat and they wait for Team A players to take the field but none of Team A turns up just becoz their batting was over ..This is precisely the same reason ,why the toss-winning captain prefer batting first . This always happens in my village.

What surprised me most was similar thing happened at Oval ( for different reasons ,though) during Pakistan Vs England match. English batsmen were ready to bat, but none of the Pakistani players turned up..They waited for sometime ,unlike in our village, pakistan players were turned up ,but umpires were not there..(This never happened in my village as we don't really play with Umpires)

Pakistan was accused of ball-tampering and awarded five-run penalty to England .Frustated Inzamam didn't let his team members take the field after Tea break .Meanwhile English batsmen and Umpires waited on the field for 15 minutes, awarded match to England as per rule 2.12 of ICC rule book .Suddenly Pakistan changed their mind and decide to take the filed ,but the umpires were not interested... Umpires didn't have any proper proof to suppor their decision .. None of 26 cameras around the ground caught the Pakistan players doing any tampering ,they didn't consult with captain either ,before taking the decision.. This is absolutely ridiculous. Yet another incident of racial discrimination against sub-continet players.. Not long ago, Sachin Tendulkar and entire Indian team accused of Ball-tampering in South Africa ,Murali was always the victim of chucking though ICC cleared his action.

These were many other incidents of this sort and it never happens in my village :)

Accident

"Where on earth have you been?"
"I have been visiting hospitals :("
"Why? did you fall in love with doctor Jaspreet there?"
"No stupid, I had an accident!"
"Yet again... Why / how on earth did that happen?"

"All cause of that damaged road near Lingampally railway station.. It was around 9:30 in the evening ,riding on my purlsar at 40 kmph ,thinking about what to write in the next post, suddenly big hole on the road ,stepped into it, managed to come out ,sand next to it.. got skid .. "

"Any injuiries to bike ,road and you?"

Road already damaged ,so did my bike.. Some scratches added on bike dome, My right shoulder got injured at the same place, watch on left hand hit the road ,got damaged and saved my hand for sure.. (Raghu.. it's for you.. new watch please ) Helmet saved my head and jeans saved my leg from little inuires..

"So, what did you learn from it?"

Well, you need to clean with dettol first ,then take T.T ,some antiboitics ,pain killer and apply soframisin for 7-10 days.. Wait a minute, my roomie told to keep the wound dry to get cured quickly..(I was using Yk's hair dryer for that ..) but I read exactly the opposite in today's Eenadu Newspaper.. Will confirm you soon..

"Not that stupid, How do you want to stop yourself from a hatrick?"

Very simple.. drive in a true hyderabadi style.. change lanes ,whenever you see a obstacle in your lane..."

"What are the lessons for others?"

For god's sake, wear helmet ..please ... It saved me twice.. My love for Peppe jeans increased as it saved my legs ... and wear full sleeve shirts to save your shoulders... Having a watch on left hand is worth considerable option...

A 'Word' for a cause...

A week back, I went to our cafeteria for lunch and I decided to have Parata, over Thali & Fruit cuts . The conversation was something like this..

Me : Bhai saab, Ek parata, please...
Waiter: Which Parata Sir, Aalu or Spinache..
Me : Spinache ??? means what?
Waiter: (With a weird look ) It's Palak Sir...

Really ,I didn't know what Spinache meant at that time ... This reminds me about a word 'cafeteria' which I heard for the first time while preparing for G.R.E and now I use it almost everyday... So, I don't know some words ,which are being used by other people in their day to day life..

In the last four years ,many people ,most of them were fresh from college ,were asking me about how to prepare for interview.. With my experience of attending as well taking interviews ,I suggest them to concentrate on following .. Atleast all nine rounds of my Oracle interview were based on these three aspects..

Communication Skills
C Language / SQL
Analytical skills /Aptitude

How to improve Communication skills?? Most of the people say that to improve English ,start speaking in English.. In reality , it's not easy.. then what is the best way ?? I personally feel , by improving vocabulary , simply becoz, good vocabulary improves your interest in reading ,becoz you'll complety understand what you are reading ... Atleast ,It worked for me..

With that Experience ,I had suggested many guys to learn one English word every day so that they can build up their vocabulary . I told it to 20 different people and none of them did it atleast for 20 days straight.. This drives me crazy ... why do people don't do something ,which is so important for buiding their carrer ?

I was thinking about compiling 500-600 English words, which will help these guys to improve their basic vocabulary but It didn't turn to reality for unknown reasons... I request all the readers of this post to write atleast one English word in the comments section ,which you feel is commonly used and People who study in non -English medium mayn't be knowing .. Eg: Words like Genuine, Ridiculous, Pleasure, or something like 'Whatz up? might help.

Please take it on serious note as I have the idea of building similar list to help students in Govt.. Telugu medium schools in and around my village...

Last two days at work, I completely spent on reading other's blogs... Upon reading their blogs, I felt inferior .. Look at blogs of Shastry, Shruti, Deepa and Sudeep .. Man, very quality stuff.. Sometimes, I got a feeling like "Am I spoiling blogspot with my crap?".. Who cares ??? What else can you expect from a guy who started learning English at the age of 9 and stuided till class X in Telugu Medium?

One interesting thing I observed in their blogs is tagging... For more understanding , see this .I wish I had some friends who tag me ,but who in the world will stop me from doing it my self.

Here you go.. Five weird things about myself..

1)Prefer to clean teeth by hand than Brush. This is the reason why I don't carry brush for 2-3 day trips.
2)I rode bicycle at the age of 24, after learning riding bike.
3)Prefer teaching to someone who know something than others who don't know anything.
4)I'll start reading any magazine from the last page.. By default my hand goes to last page ..
5)Last ,but not the least ...Tagging my self .. Nothing in the world can be more weird than this. :)

Finally, some meaningful comments on my blog and thats definitely encouraging sign for me to continue blogging. Raghu's comments on my Four years post really made me to consider group blogging with our friends network. Yk's comments shows his interest in blogs as well as lazyness in writing it.

Met with an accident and accidentally met my classmate Srihari. Stupid Autowala's sudden right turn near ganga theatre left me in no choice except kissing his auto, which inturn ended up having three injections on left ,right and center. Don't call me asking about my bike .. It's absolutely fine.. No problem with it..

What else? Started Distributing cards for Prabodhan's Marriage ,Met lot of relatives and friends and all of them asked my unfavorite questions about marriage and U.S. After about 1.5 month on bench, My project is going to start on Aug 8th and I'm going to work under my Oracle colleague..

Finally some numbers game .. 100 friends on orkut and 129 hits on my blog in the last 20 days and surprisingly more than 50 memebers turned up for Workflow training.

Four years

I never realized that I'm the only one among my classmates and hostelmates , who is in Hyderabad for four years straight after completion of Engineering ,until Shashi reminded me about that, when I congratulated him for his new job in Bajaj-Allianz. Going deeper, I realized that Vijendar is the only guy in India (Bangalore ) among my Best friends..

It makes me sick ,that I'm alone.. the fact that couple of my cousin - roomates ,who stayed in my room , left India makes me even more sick.. Am I really alone? I don't know ,but it is not the same kind of fun I'm having these days as it was, when they are around and it became more evident when last of my best buddy (YK) left India.. YK's effect was clear on the very next day ,when I went for morning walk alone..

I don't know whether it's accidental or something else ,but almost all my decisions ended up staying in Hyderabad.. Four years back, I decided to join CMC over pursuing Masters at Arizona state University. A year later, I chose Oracle Over Infosys and now I left this company, when I almost got the chance to go to U.S. I absolutely have no regrets for all these decisions ,but It would have been even more happier ,if some of my best pals around.

I'm sick of answering the question "Why are you not going to U.S." . Why Should I?? Seriously ,I didn't find any proper reason to go to U.S. I always wonder ,what makes people stay in U.S. Is it Money ?, Friends?? Or Quality of Life ??? Even after going there , there is no gurantee that I'll be staying with my friends.. I'm earning quite decently here and my new consulting job gives good chance to roam around the world and more importantly I'm staying closer to family. I'm Sure most of my classmates consider coming back to India, If Kishore comes back, but this stupid guy became so americanized that he is not even thinking of coming back..

I too sick of answering "When are you getting married" stuff. Till three months back ,that question was only from my relatives and now even my friends started asking the same question after two of my best friends (Ravi and Vijendar) got married last month. Ok, Ok, no complaints about staying alone.. This is much better than getting married (at least now).

Here is my plan, wait for a year (I turn 26 by that time) , Go on-site for some time , get feedback from Ravi and Vijendar about their married life and then decide. Did I tell you that my plan of having lunch( around 1 PM) with Ravi and Vijendar families ended up in we three (Ravi, Vijendar and me) meeting at 11:30 PM in the night ?

Foot ball Worldcup

World cup football is something special to me. 1998 world cup brings back memories of early days in enginering college and 2002 worldcup was around the same time , I joined my first job. This time around, I moved to consulting from development ,thank god.. No more coding.

This one is more special as I have freedom to watch football on T.V. We didn't have T.V in 1998 and none of my hostelmates allowed me to watch football in 2002 except for Final match of Brazil Vs Germany. Now, I' m watching evreything including pre & post match discussions Harsha, Jerry and Steve and all these last only for three hours .( what else you expect from an Indian football fan who got used to watch cricket for eight hours straight)

Harsha Bhogle, The voice of Indian cricket is back on ESPN. It's been a while since I heard of quality commentory, seriously ,tired of listening Manjrekar, Arun lal and other stupid commentators. As a great fan of Harsha ,I enjoyed his presence on ESPN ,but most of my friends ,who are true foot ball fans were badly missing John Dykes. I stopped arguing with them until they asked me 'Do you watch Cricket Worldcup with John Dykes??' Hell No. No one else in the world match Harsha, As far as cricket commentory is concerned...

Which team to support was the biggest question ? To support France (for Henry) or Brazil or England or Germay... I ruled out Brazil as I hate same team winning so many times and I'm no great fan of Germany either... I chose England over France as there are more known faces like Gerrad, Lampard,Rooney and Beckham ,on the other hand France has only one great player (Henry) as Zidane is old..

Worldcup started ,not many surpises ,except of Ghana and Ukrain making into round of 16. France,England,Brazil,Ukrain,Italy,Germany ,Argentina and portuagal were in last eight. Germany Vs Argentia, Italy Vs Ukariane , Brazil Vs France, England Vs Portugal. Wow!!! All great matches (except Italy match) .... First two matches were scheduled for Friday and last two were on saturday. On Friday Germany and Italy won as I expected ,but on saturday I was completely wrong...

First surprise was England lost ,the team which I decided to support was no more in the worldcup.Rooney's arrogance sent him out , Gerrand and Lampard were unable to perform when it really mattered. I swear, I'm not going to support England in near future.

Another surprise of the day was France won over Brazil, with Theirry Henry's goal... Can't Believe it... Thanks to Roberto Carlos, who allowed Henry to convert Ziju's free kick to a goal.. Carlos had a great chance to mark Henry,but I'm not sure ,why he played spectator's role.. Zizu was outstanding in the match , He proved me wrong, He was so perfect ,infact he is the only Real madrid player who performed to his full potential in this worldcup..

Back to Henry and France.. I'm supporting France now.. With Henry,Viera and Zidane ,they are going to win this worldcup... I'm expecting France Vs Germany final on July 9th, Lets wait and see..

I watched Flavors recently and I couldn't resist watching it again without a break. Another movie made by NRIs and full Credit to directors Raju & Krishan. Reef and Pooja acted well and all the dialogues are nicely written, Here is one

Manager: If you didn't finish your program last week, why did you say that you are done?
Emp: It was working and all ,I just need to do testing..
M: You haven't tested it yet??
E: I did unit testing ,but I have to test with Krishna's Program.
M : So, you did Standalone testing ??
(Emp shakes his head in a confusing manner and the manager was unable to decide whether the answer is Yes or No.)

M: Does that Mean Yes Or No. I can't understand this( He shakes his head as the employee)
E: Yes.. I did standalone testing.
M: There is a reason ,why I called you today.. Do you know that your contract ends next month?
E: Yes, but you said, you will extend the contract for another year.
M: But we are not in a position to do that..
E: Does that mean that next month is last for me?
M: We are planning downsizing by end of this month..
E: End of this month itself??
M:We are planning to finish first round of downsizing by this week .
E: This week itself?
M: Vivek, Today is your last day.
E: Today is my last day ???:(
M: I'm afraid or so, you have an hour to clear out your desk..
E: I'll finish the testing..
M: This is nothing to do with testing. We are not firing you, just letting you go.

There are so many such dialogues and I really impressed with how Rachana (Pooja) says thanks to Karthik (Reef) on two different occasions. Once she says " Thanks for waking me up and having another entirely useless conversation" and in other scene, she says " Hey karthik, Thanks for cheering me up". Just see the movie and you will find the difference.

Romantic dinner of Karthik and Rachana is the highlight of movie and every character is nicely portrayed.. I also like this review.

I decided to quit AXX . Everyone shocked at my decision and asked what made me to take this decision in the very short time.. What made me to leave AXX? Is it that I'm not learning much.. Or Bored of doing technical stuff or travel opportunities are bleak, or not surrounded by talented people or tired of traveling 40 km per day..... Not sure, but mainly I'm leaving because I got the offer as functional consultant with good travel opportunities...

I remember AXX as a cool place ,where you don't have much to do and can earn decently.. I'm sure ,most of my colleagues agree with me.. I enjoyed Playing T.T. in AXX, I played for around 1.5 hours per day... My backhand shot really improved a lot and got good complements from my fellow players.. Every T.T.Player recognizes me as a person who plays T.T. with stylish backhand .. I liked it.. I liked the very feeling that people rememering for uniqueness in style.. I can't forget the game I played with Jitu(AXX T.T. Champion) where I smashed all five serves straight...

About team? Enjoyed working here.. Vizag trip is the best of my 3.5 months at AXX.. Be it teasing Saroja or Srinivas's Lunch box or Shiva's Rayalaseema slang.... or boozing with Sachin or Andhra mess lunch with Sushant or Evening Mango Juice with Saroja.. Or Syed's communication skills or Curie's beauty or Tanuja's Smile or Rajeev's managerial skills or Vallabha's innocence or Vivek's technical skills in Oracle Apps Or Subbu's Bluff game or my dear BPO Associate for whom my eyes used to search in seventh floor ..I enjoyed it thoroughly ..

I'm sure that my decision is right ,but I'm not sure whether i'm leaving at right time.. I decided to leave when P.P. started recognizing my work.. I'm leaving when Rollcall Engine coding is about to start and P.P. chose me to do that.. It's a honour for sure.. I might be missing Jim's MD070 docs....

Time will answer those questions...

I was eagerly waiting for Shekhar Kammula's New movie Godavari.. Today ,I got a chance to Watch the premier of that movie along with Shekhar himself and other movie artists.. I met other famous Telugu directors and actors like Raghavendra Rao,Tanikella Bharani and Kamalini Mukerjee..

Premier was scheduled for 9.00 am and I was at Prasad's by 8:30 and I greeted Shekhar at the entrance... I saw the other guy ,who was the lead role in the movie 'Dollar Dreams' and I tried to chat with that guy ,but he was not interested.. Soon after many artists turned up and the show started around 9:30 AM..

I entered into the hall along with heroine and she was so nervous before entering the hall.. She prayed for some time and I congratulated her for her performance in Anand.. She Said 'Thank you very much... I said 'I thoroughly enjoyed Anand movied and she said 'Thank you very much'.. Shekhar looked so busy ,so I didn't want to disturb him...

First 20 minutes of the movie was dull and slow and It paced up after that... Kamalini is gorgeous in the sarry and acted with ease,Sumanth is okay.. Story is good ,good comedy.. and enjoyed the movie throughout.. I could see the shades of Anand in the movie.. Kamalini continued from where she left off in Anand and good music.. The only thing I didn't like is the way Sumanth's Character is portrayed.. I couldn't related it to any character in real life and I didn't like the heroism...

I chatted with Shekhar in the break and I appreciated his research and hard work behind his first movie 'Dollar Dreams'.. I said ,I could relate each and every movie of the scene with my real life exp and he said Thanks...

When I came out of the Hall, Media is waiting for the comments from audience and I was not intersted.. I congratulated Shekhar and met Kamalini at the exit gate... Both Shekhar and Kamalini seemed so relieved at the end of the movie..

(Un)fortunately ,many of my friends liked my blog (I'm not kidding..... though not enough review comments are there in the blog, you can check my scrap book in orkut.. ) ,about Oracle exp and they keep on asking me for my next blog.. I though of writing it couple of times ,but I couldn't do it becoz of my laziness.... Well, Here it goes...

What Am I doing? Nothing great.. Same usual stuff.. day starts with waking up at 7:45 am and catching MMTS train at 9.. Office.. Phone call from YK (and sometime others), work..orkut..Lunch ..T.T.. scrapping... work.. some meetings in between, evening con calls and back to MMTS... Well, how was it different from Oracle Life.. No morning walk, not spending enough time in room and not in touch with most of the friends as mobiles are allowed inside...

wat about work? not much work.. just completed one task and waiting for other.. After very long time, I had written code morethan 1000 lines.. that is more than what I did in Oracle for 2.5 years.. So, I was little bit skeptical before coding ,but in the end it turned to be better than what I expected...

So, howz life at AXX ? Not bad.. went to Vizag with team memebers and that was great.. playing T.T everyday and orkuting... Yep, I liked orkut simply becoz I could find the people ,who admire Sachin as much as I do and who miss Harsha's commentary more than me and the communities of Theirry Henry, Nizamabad,.....

Life is going on....

I was always thinking that leaving Oracle was not easy and I realized on my last day (Feb 14,2006) how difficult it was . Last 2.5 years were great and full of fun.. Solving bugs (creating bugs infact), T.T with Vaibhav/Daman, Tea with Rami, Veg-Non veg (Murgi-Tomator)discussion at lunch outings , Discussing 'Credit checking' bugs with Tarun/Swapna, status 11-30 stuff with support, status 32-13 with QA, Birth day parties, Working under Nisha/Atul ,Many people joining and many more leaving OM-PQE and most importantly ,working on a product which has very good market value.

I joined Oracle as technical person and ended up having some functional knowledge but screwing most of my technical talent.. Man.. D2k really sucks. Trust me , you have to read millions of lines of text to debug simple form issue. I'm not sure ,how Aditya manages to work on forms...

I realized in the first six months or so.. forms(D2k) is not my cup of tea and explored for other stuff in Order Management and I found it very soon.. It was Oracle Workflow.. Great Tool to Work with. You can't imagine Oracle Order management without Workflow.. On the functional side, Credit checking is the one which I enjoyed most..

I loved most of the things at Oracle but I decided to leave just to look the other side of the Order Management. It was not an easy decision though... I'm sure ,i'm going to miss my colleagues but that is what life is..

I joined another company ,the next day and it is exactly after one week, i'm writing this blog. So far, everything looks good and infrastucture /facilities are as good as Oracle. One interesting thing I would like to mention is about the 'diet lunch' which consists of sprouts,salads,fruits,juice and so on.. I'm impressed looking at the menu the very first day and Believe me.. we can't (at least me) eat the same stuff every day.. only fat people like YK can manage ....

This new company is very far from my room and i have to commute 40 km a day.. I enjoyed riding for first two days and it is not easy to travel every day in the polluted Hyderabad traffic.
So, I'm looking for other mode of transport and M.M.T.S train best suits my requirement. It took only 40 minutes to Necklace road from Lingampally and my workplace is 10 minutes walk away from the Necklace Road Railway station.

I enjoyed train journey today.. No Pollution, good breeze and if you have good book to read (as I have 'Five point some one' today) ,the journey would be really awesome.. I really enjoyed my journey and reading 'Five point some one'.

Credit Management Bug 4299254 sucks..

I learned a lot while working on this bug .. Credit management setup really sucks and it behaves differently each time I start working on this bug..

In the month of April, When I was just about to celebrate resolving couple of escalated bugs from customer S.F. , this bug was assigned to me.. Soon after it got escalated as usual.. Just looking at that I was happy as I felt the issue is more with Credit management ,not with OM. So assigned bug back to OCM... but B.S. was not convinced and assigned back to us..

Some discussion went on between Rajesh ,T.B and S.D in HQ and they decided it's OM issue.. So, bug was assigned back to me asking me to do some changes in ARHCRRQB.pls file to get the debug log.. I was happy again thinking that the issue with AR not with OM as the file they asked me to modify was owned by OM.. Again some discussion went on between me,A.K,S.D and Rajesh and we concluded that this file is owned by OM, they it was created under AR directory..

Now I started working on this bug without knowing much about Credit Managment. Issue was getting esclated day by day and I was unable to figure out what was going on... I searched Webiv, Metalink ... and decided that it was a setup issue..

One fine day, I had OWC session with Rajesh for 1 hour to get the things clarified.. Now I under stand the integration between OM & OCM... So I thought of having OWC session with ct to resolve the issue with whatever knowledge on credit management I have...

I'll write the rest after some time.. as I have to attend EDI TOI now..
